Dorothy Hood

(1919-2000) Houston modernist Dorothy Hood was mentored in Mexico by Juan Orozco. She studied at Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. She lived in Houston with her husband, Bolivian composer, Velasco Maidana. Her work is represented in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Hood was the subject of the 1985 documentary Dorothy Hood: the Color of Life.
