Eleanor Rogers Onderdonk

Eleanor Rogers Onderdonk (1884-1964) Born in San Antonio, Eleanor Onderdonk was a member of one of Texas’ most prominent art families. She painted portraits, landscapes, and miniatures as well as working as a fine-art teacher and administrator. In 1927 Eleanor Onderdonk became curator of art at the Witte Museum in San Antonio, a position she held until her retirement in 1958. During her tenure as curator, she organized three exhibitions of early Texas artists.
